Fika uses selfie-based identity verification to confirm that every member is a real person and is 18 years of age or older. This process involves submitting a selfie photograph through the Fika app. The selfie may be used to generate a facial geometry measurement or similar biometric identifier for the purpose of identity confirmation.
Biometric data is collected for one purpose only: to verify your identity and confirm you are over 18. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than membership verification.
Identity verification photos are reviewed by Fika’s own team. Fika does not use a third-party verification service. The verification provider is contractually bound to process data solely for the purpose of identity verification and not to retain or use data beyond what is necessary for that purpose.
Biometric verification data is not retained by Fika beyond the period necessary to complete verification. Once your identity has been confirmed, Fika retains only the result of the verification (confirmed / not confirmed) — not the underlying biometric data. Our verification provider’s retention terms are defined in their data processing agreement with Fika and comply with applicable state law.
